Why Fundraising Matters

Supporting Our Orchestra Programs

WBOPA fundraising helps provide additional support for orchestra students, directors, performances, activities, trips, supplies, and special opportunities.

Every purchase, volunteer effort, and contribution helps strengthen the orchestra experience for students at Western Branch High School and Jolliff Middle School.

Fundraising also helps provide experiences that may not otherwise be possible. Last year, WBOPA helped fund a performance by the professional Ivalas Quartet for the Jolliff Middle School orchestra program.

Another professional quartet through the Virginia Arts Festival is already scheduled to perform for Jolliff Orchestra students in November 2026.

Fall 2026

Order Your Fall Flowers

The 2026 WBOPA Fall Flower Sale is officially open. All plants are $6 each and are provided by Bennett's Creek Nursery.

This year's sale features several varieties of pansies in blue, violet, yellow, orange, red, white, rose, and mixed colors.

Ordering & Pickup Information

Everything you need to participate in the 2026 Fall Flower Sale.

Order Online

The easiest way to participate is to place your order and pay online using the WBOPA flower sale order form.

Online orders must be placed by October 6, 2026.

Families may also download and complete a paper order form.

Completed forms may be turned in to an orchestra director. Orders postmarked before September 30 may also be mailed to WBOPA.

Optional Local Delivery

Optional delivery is available for a $15 delivery fee within the 23321 ZIP code.

Delivery is limited to one address per order form and must be requested and paid for with the order.

Help Needed

Fall Flower Sale Volunteers

Student and parent volunteers are needed to help make the Fall Flower Sale pickup day successful.

Volunteer

7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Help receive, organize, and prepare plants for customer pickup.

Student and parent volunteers are welcome.

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Help organize and distribute plants as families arrive for pickup.

Student and parent volunteers are welcome.

Students

Service Hours

Students who need community service or volunteer hours may be able to receive credit for helping with the flower sale.

Students should confirm eligibility with the school, club, honor society, or organization requiring the service hours.

Volunteer Time vs. Customer Pickup

The 7:00 a.m. start time is for volunteers helping prepare the fundraiser.

Customer plant pickup begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m.

WBOPA Volunteer Opportunity

Help Lead the Spring Flower Sale

WBOPA is looking for someone interested in learning how the flower fundraiser is organized and managed.

The current flower coordinator has successfully managed the fundraiser for several years and is ready to pass the responsibility to another volunteer.

The new volunteer would shadow the current coordinator during the Fall Flower Sale to learn the process before potentially taking over coordination of the Spring 2027 Flower Sale.

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to become more involved with WBOPA while learning the fundraiser from an experienced coordinator.

Fundraising Goal

Support Our Student Musicians

The suggested fundraising goal is 20 plants per student or family. Families who prefer not to participate in the flower sale may make a suggested $40 donation.

Where Your Support Goes

WBOPA fundraising supports the Western Branch orchestra programs through scholarships, student participation fees, music and equipment purchases, staff development, and other orchestra activities.

Fundraising also allows orchestra directors to provide special experiences for students.

For example, WBOPA previously funded a visit by the Ivalas Quartet, a professional string quartet participating in a Virginia Arts Festival residency, to perform for the Jolliff Middle School orchestra program.

Another professional quartet through the Virginia Arts Festival is already scheduled to visit Jolliff in November 2026.

Jolliff Orchestra Spirit Wear

Show your Jolliff Orchestra pride with optional orchestra spirit wear for students and families.

Spirit wear orders are due Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Spirit Wear Is Available

Spirit wear order forms have been distributed to all 6th grade orchestra students and interested 7th and 8th grade students.

Purchasing spirit wear is completely optional.

The current designs are the same as last year.

How to Order

Order Deadline: Thursday, October 1, 2026

Spirit wear orders must be submitted using the paper order form.

Orders cannot be submitted electronically and spirit wear cannot be purchased through Givebacks.

Payment must be made by cash or check and submitted with the completed paper order form.

Students who need another paper copy can get one from Mrs. Rosenberg in the orchestra room. Spirit wear information is also available in the Canvas "Spirit Wear" module.
