Leah Katz Rosenberg

Director, Jolliff Middle School 

Leah Katz Rosenberg attended the Western Branch schools and began viola in the fifth grade orchestra program. She earned her Bachelor of Music magna cum laude from James Madison University and her Master of Music from Ithaca College, both with an instrumental music education concentration.

Mrs. Rosenberg’s school orchestra teachers were Alice and Martin Glasco, and she later had the honor of being their colleague for a decade until their retirement. Her private teachers were Linda Althoff, retired violist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra; Dr. Jeffrey Showell, retired viola professor and director of the James Madison University School of Music; and Ramon Scavelli, retired violist with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Rosenberg has been the orchestra director at Jolliff Middle School since the fall of 2011. Prior to that, she taught fourth through sixth grade orchestra in the Fairfax County Public Schools. She is also a violist in Symphonicity: The Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Rosenberg resides in Western Branch community of Chesapeake with her husband Jason and their three children, Judah, Zahava, and Aliza.
